Livefarm has been officially selected by the Irish Soil Experts Consortium (ISEC) as the chosen farm mapping and soil sampling software partner for the new National Soil Sampling Programme.

This landmark programme, backed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), is one of the most significant environmental and agricultural data-gathering initiatives in recent Irish history. It will see over 90,000 soil samples taken and analysed across the country in 2024 alone.

What is the National Soil Sampling Programme?

The DAFM's national programme, delivered by the ISEC consortium, is a crucial step towards enhancing sustainability and productivity on Irish farms.

This comprehensive analysis will provide farmers with a detailed understanding of their soil's health, measuring parameters such as:

• pH
• Phosphorus (P) & Potassium (K)
• Magnesium (Mg)
• Organic Carbon
• 9 trace elements
• E.coli detection

This level of detail is essential for precise nutrient management planning, helping farmers optimise fertiliser use, improve water quality, and meet environmental targets.

ISEC—a consortium of leading Irish agri-organisations including FRS, Southern Scientific, FBA Labs, Dairygold, and Teagasc—required a robust software solution to manage the enormous challenge of mapping farms, logging tens of thousands of sample points, and tracking the data from field to lab.

Livefarm's platform will provide the digital backbone for this entire operation. Our advanced farm mapping technology will be used to accurately plan and record sampling locations, ensuring data integrity across 90,000 samples. Our software will streamline the workflow for sampling technicians, manage the chain of custody, and ensure that the right data is connected to the right farm, every time.
